Disposable and Planned Replacement Contact Lenses offer the healthiest modality of contact lens wear. Depending upon your needs and the needs of your eyes, lenses can be replaced daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or quarterly. Dr. Rosanna Lovecchio will discuss these options with you during your visit.

Spherical vs Toric Contact Lenses

Even if you have astigmatism and have been told that you can not wear contact lenses, there are special lenses called toric contact lenses that may work for you.

The amount of astigmatism your eyes have determines which lens you can wear. If you have no astigmatism or only a slight amount, you should be able to wear a standard or spherical contact lens. For more pronounced astigmatism, you would require a toric contact lens.

Both of these style lenses come in daily wear as well as extended wear versions and can be either disposable or planned replacement modalities.

Multifocal Contact Lenses

For those of you who are presbyopic and require the use of bifocal or multifocal eyeglasses, you have not been left out of the contact lens arena. Yes, you too can wear contact lenses and be able to see both distance and close without putting on a pair of reading glasses over your contact lenses.

As with toric contact lenses, multifocal contact lenses are available in daily wear or extended wear versions and can be used on a disposable basis as well as a planned replacement one.

Soft vs Gas Permeable Contact Lenses

Gas Permeable contact lenses

Soft Contact Lenses make up the majority of contact lens fittings but for a select few they may not be appropriate. For this patient population, a gas-permeable or semi-rigid contact lens may be what is needed to achieve optimum vision. Dr. Rosanna Lovecchio can judge whether this would be the case.

Tinted Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are available in many different colors. Handling or visibility tint is useful for locating your lenses. For the fashion conscious or adventurous wearer, why not try a color contact lens to change the color of your eyes or give you a unique look.
